Karlovy Vary – the most famous and largest spa resort in the Czech Republic. It is situated at 360–390 metres above sea level. The city was founded in 1358 by the Czech king and the Roman emperor Charles IV. Lively streets and colonnades are surrounded by peaceful woody hills that are furnished with a net of cycling and hiking trails. These offer a perfect opportunity for walking in any season. Visitors can then enjoy a breathtaking view of the city, which lies in a valley. A rich social programme, various festivals and international conferences turn this vast Czech spa into one of the most popular places for rest, even for the most exacting clients. Other sources of Karlovy Vary´s popularity consists mainly in the glorious herbal liquor – Becherovka, which is often called the 13th spring, then Mattoni mineral water, original wafers and Moser glassworks. The international airport situated nearby Karlovy Vary facilitates and fastens travelling to this famous spa resort.
